General Purpose Pedestal Adhesive
Product Description
StarFix PED is a single component, general purpose adhesive formulated for the bonding of steel raised access flooring pedestals to concrete in light (green) to medium (yellow) graded raised access flooring installations. StarFix PED is specially formulated to provide a permanent bond between the steel pedestal and concrete base by utilising atmospheric moisture in its curing process. StarFix PED does not contain solvents, has zero VOCs and has the added benefits of excellent adhesion performance and low temperature cure properties.

Application Instructions
StarFix PED is supplied in an 8-litre metal tin. This tin contains 9.000kg of adhesive (grey, viscous liquid).
Remove the lid from the metal tin. StarFix PED does not require mixing or stirring.
(Note: Do not reseal the tin. Any residual adhesive remaining in the tin should be allowed to cure before disposal.)
There are two methods of applying the adhesive:
❶ Dip the base of the pedestal into the adhesive and then hold over the tin for 5 seconds to allow excess adhesive to flow back into the tin. Place the pedestal directly onto the pre-marked pedestal locator.
❷ Using a gauging trowel or filling knife, scoop adhesive from the tin and apply it directly to the concrete on the pre-marked pedestal locator.
Each pedestal requires between 80g and 90g of adhesive (approximately 105 pedestals per tin)
Cure Time
The time taken to achieve full cure can be reduced in cold temperatures (<10°C) and dry air or increased in warm temperatures (>20°C) and humid air. These varied conditions will not affect the initial rate of cure (front-end cure), and the adhesive will remain in a workable state for approximately three hours.
The following graph shows the cure profile of StarFix PED tested according to ASTM D5895 (BK Drying recorder test).
Coverage Rates
To achieve the maximum bond strength, each pedestal requires a minimum of 80g of adhesive applied to its base. Each StarFix PED tin contains a total of 9000g which if applied at 85g per pedestal will be sufficient for:
StarFix PED 9.000kg unit: Pedestals =105 600x600 Panels =83 Total area=30m²
Product Storage
StarFix PED contains isocyanates and the advice contained in the products Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is of particular importance.
Good standards of industrial hygiene should be observed when handling this product. Protective gloves should be worn when handling the containers. The recommendations made in the Health and Safety data sheet for this product should always be observed.
