VOCs

Volatile organic compounds

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are organic chemicals that have a high vapour pressure at ordinary room temperature. Their high vapour pressure results from a low boiling point, which causes large numbers of molecules to evaporate or sublimate from the liquid or solid form of the compound and enter the surrounding air, a trait known as volatility. For example, at 20°c water has a vapour pressure (mbar) of 23.4 whilst the MDI used to manufacture Star Uretech’s products has a vapour pressure of just 0.00001 which is two and a half million times less volatile than water and 2000 times less volatile than the other pure TDI and HDI isocyanates.

VOCs are numerous, varied, and ubiquitous. They include both human-made and naturally occurring chemical compounds. Most scents or odours are of VOCs. Some VOCs are dangerous to human health or cause harm to the environment. Anthropogenic VOCs are regulated by law, especially indoors, where concentrations are the highest.

ZERO

At Star Uretech, we believe that high performance should never come at the expense of health, safety or environmental responsibility. That's why every product in the StarFix-ZERO™ range has been developed using advanced, Zero VOC technology to deliver exceptional performance while creating safer, healthier working environments.

Unlike many conventional construction adhesives, coatings and sealers, StarFix-ZERO™ products are completely odourless, contain no intentionally added volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and do not have Workplace Exposure Limits (WELs) for hazardous solvent emissions. This makes them more pleasant to use, reduces disruption during installation and helps protect both installers and building occupants.

Independently Tested and Certified.

Every StarFix-ZERO™ product has been independently tested against internationally recognised standards for VOC emissions and VOC content, demonstrating compliance with some of the world's most demanding environmental assessment schemes.
