Equipment
The Right Equipment for Specialist Manufacturing
At StarToll, our manufacturing capabilities are supported by continued investment in modern production, laboratory, packaging and material-handling equipment.

From state-of-the-art laboratory equipment used during product development and quality control through to large-scale mixing, automated labelling and packaging systems, our facilities have been developed to provide the flexibility required for modern specialist chemical manufacture.
Having the right equipment allows us to do more than simply increase production capacity. It enables us to manufacture a wider range of chemistries, viscosities, batch sizes and packaging formats, while improving consistency, efficiency and repeatability.

Continued Investment in Mixing Technology
One of our most significant areas of recent investment has been our manufacturing and mixing capability.

Star Uretech has invested in two Greaves FLEX mixing systems, providing greater flexibility when manufacturing multiple specialist products and accommodating frequent batch changes.

Our latest system incorporates the Greaves Visco-FLEX 1000 multi-tool mixing station, developed for more challenging high-viscosity products. The system provides continuous circulation of products at viscosities of up to 65,000 cP, together with high-shear dispersion, temperature monitoring and process data recording.

The flexible change-pan design uses mobile process vessels around a fixed mixing station, allowing different production batches to move efficiently through manufacture. Greaves highlights this approach as a key factor in helping Star Uretech maintain high productivity, short lead times and rapid stock turn across a diverse range of specialist products.

From Laboratory to Production
Our equipment strategy also supports the wider StarToll product development process.

Laboratory-scale equipment allows our chemists to develop and evaluate formulations in controlled quantities before progressing through pilot production and ultimately into full-scale commercial manufacture.

This creates a natural development path:

Laboratory Development → Pilot Scaling → Production Trials → Commercial Manufacture → Mass Production

Rather than developing a formulation in isolation and then attempting to find a way of manufacturing it, our technical and production teams can consider the eventual manufacturing process throughout development.

Automated Labelling
We have also invested in automated labelling equipment, allowing finished containers to be labelled efficiently and consistently.

This complements our wider Branding & Labelling service, where we can help customers develop product labels, incorporate existing branding and produce the supporting technical and safety documentation required for their finished products.

For customers using StarToll as a complete private-label manufacturing partner, the result is a professionally manufactured and presented product ready for commercial supply.

Bucket Sealing Equipment
Our investment in bucket sealing equipment further improves the efficiency and consistency of our packaging operations.

Reliable container sealing is an important part of chemical manufacturing, helping protect the finished product throughout storage and distribution while providing customers with professionally packaged goods.

Combined with our filling and labelling capabilities, this allows manufacture and final packaging to form part of one integrated production process.

Nitrogen Topping
For products where protection from atmospheric moisture or oxygen is important, we have invested in nitrogen topping capabilities.

This is particularly relevant to certain moisture-sensitive and reactive chemistries, where controlling the atmosphere within the container can help protect the finished formulation during storage.

Our ability to incorporate processes such as nitrogen topping demonstrates the specialist nature of our manufacturing operation and our understanding that different chemistries require different handling and packaging procedures.

Container Loading Platform
Our facilities also include a dedicated container loading platform, supporting the efficient movement and loading of finished products for larger shipments.

This complements StarToll's Stock & Distribution service and helps us manage the complete journey from manufacture and packaging through to warehousing, order fulfilment and dispatch.

Laboratory & Quality Control Equipment
Investment is not limited to the production floor.

Our well-equipped in-house laboratory provides the equipment required for product development, formulation work and extensive quality and performance testing.

Depending upon the product, our laboratory capabilities allow us to evaluate characteristics including viscosity, gel time, cure, hardness, adhesion, abrasion resistance, colour, gloss, water content, NCO content, UV stability and numerous other product-specific properties.

This provides a direct connection between the equipment used to develop the product, the equipment used to manufacture it and the equipment used to verify its performance.

Investing in Capability
For StarToll, investment in equipment is ultimately an investment in what we can offer our customers.

Modern manufacturing equipment gives us greater control, greater flexibility and the ability to take on increasingly demanding products. Automated packaging equipment improves efficiency and presentation, while our laboratory facilities allow products to be developed and evaluated in-house.

Together with our experienced chemists and skilled manufacturing team, this gives StarToll the infrastructure to support a product throughout its complete commercial journey:

Develop → Scale → Manufacture → Test → Package → Label → Store → Dispatch

We continue to invest in the people, technology and equipment required to make StarToll an increasingly capable UK specialist chemical development and toll manufacturing partner.
