Raised Access Flooring Pedestal Adhesive

Product Description

StarFix ACOUSTIC is a two-component, solvent free, polyurethane, sound and vibration damping, adhesive system specially formulated for use with access flooring pedestals. The material is specially formulated to provide a sound and vibration damping effect by forming a viscoelastic layer between the pedestal and the substrate.

Attributes and Benefits

Reduces foot traffic, vibration and acoustical noise
Tried and tested formulation provides excellent sound dampening characteristics.

    Superior adhesive properties
Excellent adhesion to concrete and most other materials used in access flooring industry.

    Unique, two component formulation
Easy to use, simply mix the supplied filler in the bucket provided.

    Ultra low VOC
Does not contain any hazardous or flammable solvents.

●    Flexible, low foam formulation
Ensures a more solid feel on installation than products that rely on foaming to gap fill.

Wide range of temperatures for application
Can be used from temperatures as low as -5°C up to 35°C.

StarFix ACOUSTIC can be mixed by using a drill stirrer in approximately 6.5kg ‘kits’. Once mixed it is then applied to the base of the pedestal using a serrated spreader or trowel. Mixing should take place by stirring of the ‘B’ component into the ’A’ component and continuing to stir until mixed. Full mixing should take no more than 120 seconds with the correct equipment.

The material remains in a mobile, liquid form for approximately 4-5 hours, after which the material sets into a soft solid, getting progressively harder over a period of a few days.

StarFix ACOUSTIC is available as a 6.5kg kit containing two, pre-measured components, both held within a 20 litre plastic bucket.

Handling and Storage

Good standards of industrial hygiene should be observed when handling all components.  The use of protective gloves is highly recommended and users should consider the use of goggles if splashing during mixing is a possibility. The recommendations made in the Health and Safety data sheet for this product should be observed at all times.  StarFix ACOUSTIC Part ‘A’ contains 4,4’-Diphenylmethane diisocyanate and the advice contained in the products Safety Data Sheet is of particular importance.

Technical Information

The condition of this product will determine the required method of disposal. Used containers with fully cured product remaining around the edges or bottom of the container should have the hazard label removed or obscured before disposal as general building waste. Uncured/liquid product should be disposed of as hazardous waste.

Coverage Rates

When used correctly a typical rate of 80 to 100 pedestals per 6.5kg unit should be expected. (Please note that coverage rate may vary with different substrates and application methods).

The order reference for StarFix ACOUSTIC is SF-AA2-6.5-00-0. A full pallet consists of 33 x 6.5kg kits.
