Product Suitability - Budget
Despite the claims of some less scrupulous manufacturers, suppliers or installers, a high-quality UV stable, resin bound surface is not a low budget option or a direct alternative to a cheaper system such as a loose gravel surface. Decorative surfaces such as resin bound and block paving are more expensive than their less decorative counterparts. The whole life cost of a resin bound surface can prove to be more cost effective in the long term due to its longevity and reduced maintenance requirements however, if the product selection is constrained by a tight budget the applicator and their customer should consider a resin bonded (coat and scatter) product such as StarScape PRO or a pattern imprinted, concrete surface.
The costs associated with all driveway and exterior surfacing systems can vary significantly in different parts of the UK however, the following cost estimations should provide a useful indication as to how much you should expect to be paying. In summary, with so many installation specific variables, it is difficult to provide an accurate cost estimation however as a general rule, if your budget does not exceed £50 per m² then you should give serious consideration to a StarScape PRO resin bonded surface however if your budget does exceed £100 per m² then a StarScape ULTRA resin bound surface and the full choice of surfacing options are available and the selection should be based upon the desired end use (system performance) and the system specfic asthetics (personal preferance).
