Materials - Aggregate Performance

At Star Uretech we understand that the performance of a resin bound surface is not only dictated by the formulation and quality of the resin, skill of the installer and application depths but also by the aggregate used.

Angular aggregates have less point-to-point contact within a bound matrix. Microporous aggregates soak up resin like a sponge and leave too little resin between contact points and ferrous aggregates both rust and absorb ambient moisture in temperature change.

Before designing aesthetically pleasing aggregate blends, it is essential to understand the properties of each individual aggregate used. Star Uretech have performed hundreds of tests to confirm each of our aggregate’s strength, hardness, porosity, ferrous content and specific gravity.
