Information - Edging
When installing a base course for a resin bound surface the base course material should be left slightly lower than the edging to leave a working edge for the resin bound surface (typically a minimum of 20mm) however, when installing a resin bound surface onto an existing base it may be necessary to dig-out the edges and install an edging border or block kerbs.

Edging stones should be secured by the base course and any beading/trim used for day-joints or design work must always be either mechanically fixed using self-tapping screws or adhered to the base course using StarScape Trim-Fix.
No edging stones or beading trim should be secured using the resin bound surface as its fixing or installed without a solid ‘locking’ layer to both sides.

StarPolymers IRONLOCK is a high-performance locking compound that is supplied in 20kg kits and is ideal for edge bedding, repairs to damaged tarmacadam surfaces and for fixing ironwork such as manhole covers.
Aluminium or stainless-steel trims are often used as edging to the area of a driveway which meets the pavement or soft landscaping surrounding the sides of an installation. We do not advise the use of metal trims for this purpose. Stone blocks provide a stronger frame for the edge of the bound resin and can compliment the selected aggregate blends colours. We only advise the use of metal trims for design work or day joints that are enclosed on both sides by the resin bound surface.
